Secure file sharing: code-protected drops, links that expire
Secure file sharing should not require your recipient to create an account. With RoostDrive, you share a link and an access code — they open, view, download or upload, and the link expires when you decide.
Private drops go further: visitors request access, you approve with one click (and get notified by e-mail), and you can revoke at any time.

File drops: sharing without friction
A drop is a secure exchange space you control:
- ✓Share by link + QR code — recipients scan and open, nothing to type;
- ✓Expiring links: 24 h, 7 days, 30 days — or permanent for published documents;
- ✓Two-way: recipients can also UPLOAD files to your drop;
- ✓Private mode: access on approval only, with e-mail notifications both ways.
Share a document straight from your library
Any document in your RoostDrive space can be shared by link in two clicks — the platform reuses the existing drop instead of creating duplicates, so one document keeps one share link.
European hosting, GDPR by design
Files are hosted in Europe. Access codes are the authorization: no account, no tracking of your recipients. Expired drops are purged automatically.
Frequently asked questions
How do I share a large file securely without the recipient creating an account?
Create a drop, add your file, share the link and code — the recipient opens it in their browser. You can set the link to expire in 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days.
Can people send ME files?
Yes. Drops are two-way: anyone with the link can upload files into it (authentication required for uploads).
What happens when the link expires?
The drop closes and its files are purged. You can extend the expiry date at any time before that.
Can I approve who accesses a drop?
Yes — switch the drop to private: visitors request access with their name (and optionally e-mail), you approve or deny, and both sides are notified by e-mail.
